What they say:
The adidas Adipower Sport Boost is closely related to the other Boost golf shoes. It shares the Boost foam cushioning technology, which is more responsive than traditional EVA foam, and also the Puremotion Gripmore outsole. This outsole is second to none in terms of traction, flexibility, durability and comfort. It contains numerous lugs/nubs of varying sizes as well as rubber traction at the toe and heel. The Adipower Sport Boost differs from its Boost cousins in that its upper is made of textile and synthetic, which has a bonded PU weld for extra protection from the elements. It is based off of the famous Supernova running shoe.
Technology:
*Boost midsole foam in heel – Boost foam is comprised of thousands of TPU energy capsules fused together that deliver energy return and responsiveness. In a sense, it has a more trampoline effect than traditional EVA midsole foam.
*EVA foam in forefoot
*Dual-gusseted tongue – Added comfort
*Puremotion outsole with Gripmore tread – Comprised of numerous lugs/nubs of varying sizes along with non-replaceable spikes. Rubber traction at heel and toe
*TPU saddle – Decreases weight of shoe and adds stability
*External heel counter - Wider heel outsole for increased stability
*Bonded overlays – Additional lateral stability and support
*Textile and synthetic upper – Is lightweight and flexible. PU welding for extra protection from elements
*Cloudfoam sockliner
What customers say:
Pros – Light and performs like sneaker
Very cushioned and comfortable
Cheaper than Boost shoe cousins
Cons – Run a bit narrow
No wide option
A bit high off ground
What we say:
For those who do a lot of walking on the course and desire the same standard of traction and support as “traditional” golf shoes, the adidas Adipower Sport Boost is a great option. At just over $100, it is extremely competitive with other sport/performance golf shoes. We really like the Boost foam technology and Puremotion Gripmore tread, as they do seem to actually be noticeable and beneficial. Though perhaps not as breathable as we would like from a sport golf shoe, the Sport Boost are still waterproof and perhaps sacrifice ventilation for a dry foot. The “downgrade” of foam used in the forefoot and sockliner from the other Boost golf shoes will not be noticeable for most, though particular golfers will perhaps notice a decrease in cushion comfort.
