Pros' Golf Shoes

Which golf shoes do PGA Tour pros use? Which is the most popular golf shoe on the PGA Tour / European Tour? These are two common questions we hear a lot. Interestingly enough, the answers aren't easy to find. Until now. Please allow us to  applaud ourselves for putting all this informatino in one place! Joking aside, this information is useful knowledge, because, well, if the best players in the world wear these shoes, they must be good enough for us. Below you'll find a weekly update of the winner of the tournament that week and which golf shoes they wore. We've also compiled a list of the top 20 golfers in the world, based on the official world golf rankings, and their shoe of choice.

What Golf Shoes do the Pros Wear?

Jon Rahm was the latest major winner with victory at the U.S. Open at Torrey Pines (South) in San Diego, California. He holed two incredible clutch putts on the 71st and 72nd holes wearing the Cuater WILDCARD LEATHER. A part of the TravisMathew brand, Cuater golf shoes are all about casual comfort and style. Ladies and gentlemen, here are Jon Rahm's golf shoes:

Since we're shoe nerds, we couldn't just put up a list without dissecting it further. First, we'll break it down percentage-wise as to the most popular golf shoe brands among the best 20 players in the world (the percentage of how many top players are using the particular brand):

1) Nike        35%

2) FootJoy  30%

3) Adidas    25%

4) ASICS       5%

4) PUMA       5%

Interestingly enough, when you expand from the top the 20 to the top 50 players in the world, FootJoy comes out head and shoulders above the rest in terms of popularity, with roughly 40% of of the top 50 wearing their golf shoes. Second is Nike, with about 20% of the top 50 sporting their shoes.

In regards to the specific golf shoe of choice among the best players in the world:

1) Nike Air Zoom Victory Tour 2 - 3 of the top 20 players wear it = 15%

1) Adidas ZG21 - 3 of the top 20 players wear it = 15%

1) FootJoy Premiere Series - 3 of the top 20 players wear it = 15%

2) FootJoy DryJoys Tour - 2 of the top 20 players wear it = 10%

2) Adidas CodeChaos - 2 of the top 20 players wear it = 10%

An interesting observation is that although the FootJoy Pro/SL is easily among the most popular shoes on the PGA and European Tours, It is worn by only one of the top 20 players in the world.

This list is constantly changing, as do sponsorships and world rankings. However, at this moment, we can say that Nike and FootJoy are the most popular golf shoe brands among the best players on the PGA and European Tours. It's no surprise that FootJoy's long-lasting, quintessential classic golf shoe, the ICON Black/Shield Tip, is the most popular for the elite players on the PGA/European Tour. However, more and more players are starting to favor the newly released Premiere Series over the ICON.
