Golf Shoes of the Best Players in the World
(Top 20 in the Official World Golf Rankings)
Since we're shoe nerds, we couldn't just put up a list without dissecting it further. First, we'll break it down percentage-wise as to the most popular golf shoe brands among the best 20 players in the world (the percentage of how many top players are using the particular brand):
1) Nike 35%
2) FootJoy 30%
3) Adidas 25%
4) PUMA 5%
4) Under Armour 5%
Interestingly enough, when you expand from the top the 20 to the top 50 players in the world, FootJoy comes out head and shoulders above the rest in terms of popularity, with roughly 40% of of the top 50 wearing their golf shoes. Second is Nike, with about 20% of the top 50 sporting their shoes.
In regards to the specific golf shoe of choice among the best players in the world:
1) Nike Roshe G Tour - 4 of the top 20 players wear it = 20%
2) Adidas Tour360 XT - 3 of the top 20 players wear it = 15%
3) Adidas CodeChaos - 2 of the top 20 players wear it = 10%
3) FootJoy ICON Black - 2 of the top 20 players wear it = 10%
3) FootJoy DryJoys Tour - 2 of the top 20 players wear it = 10%
An interesting observation is that although the FootJoy Pro/SL is easily among the most popular shoes on the PGA and European Tours, It's only worn by one of the top 20 players in the world.
This list is constantly changing, as do sponsorships and world rankings. However, at this moment, we can say that Nike and FootJoy are the most popular golf shoe brands among the best players on the PGA and European Tours. It's no surprise that FootJoy's long-lasting, quintessential classic golf shoe, the ICON Black/Shield Tip, is the most popular for the elite players on the PGA/European Tour.
